New Cameras!

Over the past month, I have spent about $4k on my hobby. Ouch! Well, it is a hobby and I really hope that the newer equipment can help me to better understand and perform better. Also, these are bought with my future overseas trips in mind. Mmmmm.........

Weekend Camp

Got a camp trip coming up later. My ECA group has a weekend leadership course and I have been requested to go down as one of the instructor cum supervising adult. I hope everything turns out well later.

Just came home from watching Wall-E with my ex-colleague. Yawn! Really sleepy now......

Teacher's Day Celebration

Just saw the performance done by the students. Really interesting. What surprised me most is that one of my students gave me a present! It really made my day! I have only taught them for barely a month and I did not really expected it. Thanks my dear student!

Another Day Of Rain But......

It was but another gloomy day. However, there came a major surprise today. After many many moons, she finally came back online again. It is great to see her opening herself up again. Maybe there is a new guy in her life but at least now she is no longer keeping to herself anymore. I have been worried about her for sometime now, especially since I last spoke with her mum. It is one small step but I am happy now.

Cool Weather

It has been raining the entire day and the weather is nice and cool. Too cool in fact. May be due to the fact that I usually wear only my shorts when I am at home. Brrr.......

No Buffet......Sianz

Was thinking of heading for some high-tea buffet with a couple of my colleagues. Unfortunately, one of them got called away on official business. Ah well......another time then. At least, I get to sleep early today. Hahaha!

White Hair?

Most people my age would have gotten a stand or two of white hair. Till date, although I have a thinning crown, thankfully I am still fortunate enough to have crown of black hair. Alas, today I saw my first white hair. Well, not exactly a hair and it was not on my head. It was one of my nostril hair?!?!?! I check my nostril daily for overgrown hair sticking out and I definitely did not see the white hair yesterday. Oh no! It just appeared overnight! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally Got My Own SLR!

After very very long, I have finally purchased my film SLR! Yeah. Been saving up towards it for sometime and was hoping really hard that the camera is still available. Went down to the shop today and they still had it. Albeit it ain't first hand but it is in good working condition. Finally, I got a good camera to play with when I go for my future overseas trips.

Getting Used

After about a month, I am starting to get into the hang of things. It has not been easy. I had started out with Maths and till now I am still gauging the abilities. At least for D&T, with my background, I can use my experiences in the industry and share with the students. The term is coming to an end soon, hope the students are able to handle the questions.

Preparing For Class

It is a weekend but I have got to prepare for my class on Tuesday. I had taken over teaching the class last Thursday and the results was not really encouraging. I had not taken into consideration about the difficulties the students might have faced and had to change my sequence of teaching after I had already printed the notes for them. Sigh. I am really green in this.

After the little feedback that my mentor had given me, we were too busy to have a proper post-lesson observation, I am rearranging my slides and my notes layout. I hope this time, my students will be able to take it on easier.

Looking For a Film SLR

SIgh. I would like to have a proper film SLR to use for my hobby but I am not familiar with other models. Been using Nikon's FM3A during my earlier days from school and I like what I had so would like to get my hands on one set but it is not cheap. What I found on ebay are costly and the only reasonably priced one I found has some pretty weird bidding on it. Why would someone keep upping his own bid when he is the highest bidder? Sigh.....

My FIRST National Day Not Sitting In Front!

Hahaha! After 27 Years, I am finally not one of those sitting in front during the National Day celebrations. The uniform groups did me proud with their marching for the parade. I only had two sessions with them, encouraging them to their best, seeing improvements each time they were drilled through the sequence. When I saw them marching on to the parade this morning, I felt pride. I was really proud of them for they delivered what they promised me. The principal was really impressed with the parade too. She commented that the parade was "very good, well done". From what I understand from my colleagues, she had been hoping to see some form of standard for the parade and I am glad that with the little time we had, the girls and boys put up a great performance and gave a good representation of themselves. JOB WELL DONE MY STUDENTS!

Part two of the celebration in the hall was really fun too, especially during the sing-a-long. I never had this much fun in the past as a student, with school celebrations being pretty subdued. I guess the students in this school really know how to have a good time.

In the past National Day celebrations, I was a student, a participant in school parades, a spectator at the National Day Parade and of course, the highlight of them all, when I was a member of the RSAF Guard-of-Honor contingent for the NDP. Today marked the first time I am celebrating National Day as a teacher. WOW! Thank you everyone for the memories!

Trip Revamped

Been spending last evening and today on revamping my itinerary for my trip to NZ. Found on SIA website a fare deal for the period of my trip. Finally I am done with my North Island itinerary, about to start on my South Island itinerary. 14 days alone for North Island. WOO HOO!

Pathetic NATAS Fair

The NATAS fair I went to yesterday was pathetic! I could not find a single agency who can offer me a return ticket to NZ at all in the Nov/Dec period. Arggg! They have inbound flights available but no outbound at all. Although it is my plan to ultimately leave Singapore for New Zealand, it is a little too early now to buy a one-way ticket.

Heading to NATAS

Going down to the NATAS fair later. I hope that they have something reasonably ok for me. Mainly I am hoping to find some cheap airfares for my end-of-year trip to NZ. Please let there be no crowd. Please let there be no crowd!
