more lifeguard duty

i had my second lifeguard duty today. my life guard corps vp contacted me and asked me if i wanted to take the duty today. since i was free, i agreed. when i arrived, i found another of my fellow lifeguard coursemate with his foc charges. then he say he knows why i'm doing the lifeguard duty for his hall. i swear i did not know which hall i was covering the freshmen orientation camp pool activities for before i arrived. he kept claiming i had ulterior motives for taking the duty today but i did not. haiz.

watching them play, it was both funny and boring. funny because of some of their activities like jousting while standing on floats in the pool. it was really funny seeing the participants having a go for each other. boring because all you do is see. everything was ok till the tug of war event. dur to some safety implications, we had to restrict them or they could have hurt themselves. the activity was allowed to go on but with restrictions to safeguard their well-being. they were supposed to deploy their own people to act as barriers at the edge of the water but as the game got on, the human barriers turned around and started pulling along. i had to blow my whistle, first time blow whistle as lifeguard leh, and remind them of their safety. during the second and third round, the same thing happened again. i decided that there was no imminent danger to me if i acted as the barrier and had to stand at the waters edge to prevent them from slipping and knocking their head on to the floor. it's ok if they fall into the pool but if they slip and knock their heads against the floor, it would have been hell of a mess.
