Memories Of Days Gone By

Back in October, there was a gathering of guys, former Josephians from the SJI Class of 1996. We were a rowdy bunch back in our younger days. Now, we are all getting older and me rounder. It was great catching up with some of the guys. It was even better catchingup with some teachers who have since retired. Like Mr Patrick Zendher. He was my PE tutor in my Secondary One & Two days. We used to laugh at the crude Popeye joke. Haha.
Having A Chat With Mr. Patrick Zendher & Faizal
I remember when we first entered SJI as blur 12 year olds, he was the elder statesman who rang the bell in the school hall as we were welcomed into the SJI community. Again when we returned to recieve our 'O' Level results, once again he rangs us out. 10 Years later, it is great to see him once again ringing the bell to welcome us back to again. Seeing him ring that bell really brings back many many memories.

I mainly hanged with my ECA mates from back then. We were a pretty close knit bunch. Well, besides them, I did not really had many other friends. While chatting about our progress, turns out I was speaking to 2 SIA employees. Jeffery, who always claim he did not want to be an engineer when I met him in NTU, is now a Cadet Pilot. Nicholas, who majored in Philosophy from NUS, is now a Trainee Station Manager with SIA too. Damn! Stupid company which only accepts 2nd Upper Class Honors graduates. Arggg!

Of course, who could forget the principal who molded all of us into what we are today, Brother Paul Rogers. He was very strict on us bacj then and I still shudder at the tongue lashings he handed out back then. Now, seeing him, it makes for fun memories. Couple of years after we had left SJI, he returned to Australia where he was the Director of a Boy's Home. Now, he is the principal of CJC. Yes, boys and girls, shudder. Well, at least he is much more approachable than the former principal Sister Maria, according to what I heard.
Brother Paul Rogers Addressing The SJI Class Of 96
When he was addressing us on stage, he mentioned that many had asked him why he shaved off his moustache. Well, if you look at his face clearly, and you add the moustache back in, he does bear a passing resembalance to Sadammn Hussein. Oooooooh.

Days gone by and life moves on. Tomorrow is another day for us to do something with our lives. What are you planning to do?
